Greek Narrative Vases on Paper
This year the 5th graders made 2-D Greek vases on terracotta and bisque shaded cardstock. They drew narrative scenes on their vases with themes and colors similar to traditional Greek vases. The students drew scenes from everyday Greek life, War, Gods and Goddesses, Olympics and Mythology. The scenes are framed by typical Greek patterns and motifs.

Fall Tree Landscapes
The first graders created stunning Fall Tree Landscapes while learning about the “horizon line” as a follow up to a lesson on horizontal and vertical. They drew a horizon line and then painted the sky and grass. In the next class, the students drew“Y”s for tree trunks and then painted tree leaves in Fall shades.

Leaf Rubbing Watercolors and Craypas Leaf Drawings
The Second graders looked at Fall Leaves in the Art Studio. They created leaf impressions by rubbing crayon on paper with the leaves underneath. Then they painted with watercolor and discovered the crayon wax resisting the paint. Finally, they observed a leaf, drew it with craypas and glued it onto their composition.

Big Apples
As part of the Kindergarten Art room Primary Color Unit and the Kindergarten Classroom Apple Unit, the Kindergarteners painted all shades of red apples. They mixed red, pink, reddish orange, and purplish red paint on giant apple shape papers. Then they had the opportunity to create textures with various tools and to add tissue paper, stems or leaves.

After studying the Native American Culture, the boys of 9C each worked on a Totem face made from big canisters and odds and ends covered in newspaper and papier mache. They painted each face and then we stacked it together for results they were very proud of.
