Andy Warhol American Artist study
As part of the Second Graders' Culture Study, the teachers requested a focus on an American Artist as well. So this year we learned about Andy Warhol and how he silk- screened multiple "pop" images. The students printed their handprints and then reworked them to alter the colors. They also designed their own "Carmel" Soup cans in honor of Warhol's Campbell Soup Art.

Marble Painting with pre-k
The Transitional K students had a blast painting with marbles. Inspired by Jackson Pollack's action splatter painting, they rolled paint-covered marbles over paper and stencils in a large box top experimenting in many ways.

Middle School Art Club Participates in the Memory Project
I learned about the Memory Project while at a summer Art Educators' Conference. The organization provides photos of young refugee children for students to create realistic portraits and then returns them back to these children who have nothing much of their own. This felt like a huge responsibility for my students who took this challenge very seriously but they didn't give up. The charity sent us a video of the recipients-Rohingyan refugees who are now living in displacement camps in Bangladesh who now have a tangible image from their childhood.

ROY G BIV Rainbow Boot Camp
In the Art Room, the TK students learned all about the colors of the rainbow and the ROY G BIV order. We have been painting and experimenting with all things rainbow. We used markers on color diffusing paper, painted with tempera, watercolor and foam paints, mixed colors to make more colors, wove rainbows and collaged rainbow creations. These were on display in school and then the Greenwich Library. We even learned a song about our friend Roy G. Biv. They Might Be Giants - Roy G Biv (official TMBG video)
